THE GREAT ALPINE ROAD - VICTORIA September 24 2008 Andrew Percy General Events
The Great Alpine Road (B500) traverses the Great Dividing Range from Bairnsdale in East Gippsland to Wangaratta in north east Victoria, a distance of 308 kilometres. The road is Australia’s highest (1,825m) year-round accessible sealed road and wends its way over lofty mountains, through valleys and forests, crosses rivers, and passes vineyards and farms. At the western end there is a good deal of local food and wine to be enjoyed. See the links below.
