The NDR Rally for 2009 will be held in Queensland. Not much info yet but keep watching this space.

The NDR plans

The rally will begin at 12 noon on Friday 31st March with registrations, trade show and test rides taking up a large proportion of the day. Fraser’s will be running test rides over the whole weekend but you must book in half an hour before the ride you wish to be involved in begins. Friday night will see the gathering at the bar for pre-dinner drinks and antipasto followed by a welcome barbeque dinner (including dessert) with door prizes. This is a great way to meet members of other clubs and Ducati enthusiasts in general.
Saturday morning begins with a community breakfast (included in accommodation booked through Latrobe). After that, participants will go in different directions to attend the event of their choice.
The options are:

  • a barbeque ride to Mt Buffalo,
  • a winery bus tour to Rutherglen,
  • a lunch run to Tintaldra,
  • a lunch run to Mt Beauty through Towonga Gap.
  • some will probably shoot down to the Milawa Food Region for lunch and wine tasting and;
  • some will choose to stay in Beechworth and wander around amongst the historic buildings, have lunch at Green Gekko Café (a co-owner rides a Ducati) and maybe try out the beers at Bridge Road Brewers.
  • Die-hards might go for a fang to Mt Hotham and maybe even Omeo.
  • Then, for those who just want to ‘veg out’ at the venue there will be a bar open and trade stands to look at and test rides to check out what your new bike will be.

During the afternoon there will be seminars held:

  • by TyrePliers about emergency roadside tyre repairs,
  • by The Californian Superbike School
  • and Bob Brown from Melbourne Desmo Centre will talk about his days of Pantah racing with Kevin Magee.

With so many choices it is a very hard decision of what to choose!

Saturday evening will see pre-dinner drinks at the bar followed by a 4-course dinner with entertainment supplier by a great 70’s & 80’s band “Double Vision”.
Steve Brouggy from Californian Superbike School will be the MC for the night with door prizes, an auction and trophies drawn throughout the evening. Latrobe will run shuttle buses for all participants that Latrobe have placed in accommodation off-site so you do not have to worry about the drinking and riding aspect.

Sunday morning will again begin with the communal breakfast, which will be followed by the Concorso d’Eleganza. This will be held on the lawn area around the hotel and will be a fine display of Ducati motorcycles. Enter your ‘pride and joy’ into this event and see if you can take home a trophy. The trade stands will still be available to peruse and select the products that you think will suit your needs.

The event will finish at 12.30pm on the Sunday to give you time to make your journey home unless you decide to stay on for a little longer and enjoy some more of the fabulous roads and scenery of this fabulous part of Victoria.
