Ducati Owners Club of Victoria

Desmoto is the magazine of the Ducati Owners Club of Victoria. Being a club magazine it's put together by club members, for club members.  For almost 30 years, Desmoto has been arriving in club member's letterboxes.  Yes, it arrives in your letterbox.  Desmoto is not an 'e-zine', although PDF version are available to club members for download.

The Editor (a committee member and volunteer) collates, sources and cajoles articles - mostly from members, but also from others in the motorcycle trade, media and other relevant areas.

The result is a glossy black and white 32 - 38 page magazine which is distributed to our members and sponsors just before the general meeting each month, eleven months of the year (no issue in January).    The mag concentrates on club events, with a ride report in most issues, and coverage of track days (called Fun Days by the club), service days, and other events as they occur. The President and Club Captain report each issue, and the treasurer publishes the accounts for the previous month. A separate insert sheet has the club Itinerary with club rides and events for the next few months, with the committee roles and contact details at the bottom to place on the fridge.

There is a News section with club and Ducati news relevant to members, a ‘Shearm’s Tips’ column with motorcycling wisdom, plus member profiles, and the regular ‘Things of Beauty’ and ‘Fave Websites’ columns. Sometimes we will have a member’s analysis of Ducati’s place in the world (eg. racing or new model releases), and often have technical features and maintenance guides.

Desmoto generally doesn’t publish news that is covered by the general motorcycle press – we know that most of our members keep up to date with mainstream motorcycle magazines.

Desmoto concentrates on the club. That’s what a club magazine is all about.  So, if you join in the club fun, you'll likely end up in the magazine - or maybe even on the front on it!
